Symptoms
Noticeably slow all of a sudden.

Troubleshooting
Run hard disk diagnostic software.

Solution
Replace faulty hard disk, reload from recovery disks.

Precautions
Unplug from mains, and make sure battery is removed during disassembly and assembly.  Back-up all personal data.

Tools required
Philips screwdriver, container to keep screws etc, and well lit and comfortable antistatic workspace.

Symptoms
Screen only shows white and a few running colours during operation.

Troubleshooting 
Check for overheating.  Check cable from motherboard to LED.

Solution 
Reseat cable from motherboard to LED panel.

Precautions
Unplug from mains, and make sure battery is removed during disassembly and assembly.  When removing the screen bezel do this with care as the plastic is very thin, and can snap
easily.

Tools required
Philips screwdriver, plastic prying tool, container to keep screws etc, well lit and comfortable antistatic workspace.

Symptoms
Black screen or running colours.

Troubleshooting
Check cable from motherboard to LCD panel is seated correctly.  Check for overheating.

Solution
If everything with the above is in normal state, we are left with the graphics chip.
Reflow first and if necessary will need full BGA reballing.

Precautions
Unplug from mains and remove battery during disassembly and assembly.   Take care of high temperatures during reflow process.  Please wear correct protective gear.

Tools required
Philips screwdriver, plastic prying tool, container to keep screws etc, small new paintbrush, thermal paste, heat gun (reflow), aluminum foil, well lit and comfortable antistatic workspace.

Symptoms
Switching off.

Troubleshooting 
Check for overheating, check voltages on charger, check battery.

Solution
This case turned out to be overheating.  Remove motherboard, remove CPU, GPU, heat sinks.  Clean out and replace thermal paste.  Check cooling fan operation.

Precautions
Unplug from mains and remove battery during disassembly and assembly.  Attention to CPU heat sink is mounted using even pressure.  Store hard drive in safe secured place as it is shock sensitive.

Tools required
Philips screwdriver, plastic prying tool, container to keep screws etc, small new paintbrush, thermal paste, multimeter, well lit and comfortable antistatic workspace.

Troubleshooting
Test output voltages from charger with multimeter.

Solution
Remove motherboard and replace power jack.

Torque screwdriver, Philips screwdriver, plastic prying tool, container to keep screws etc, soldering iron, solder, multimeter, well lit and comfortable antistatic workspace.
