EXTERNAL USB HARD DISK FAULT AND REPAIR 

Symptoms
USB external hard disk not working.

Troubleshooting
Try external hard disk in more than one USB port, and with another computer.  Try a different USB cable.

Solution
Remove disk from case and connect directly to the computer.  Run disk diagnostics.

Precautions
Hard drives are shock sensitive so take care.  Always remove from the mains before
disassembly.  Make sure computer is completely turned off, before connecting the hard drive to the motherboard.

Tools required
Philips screwdriver, container to keep screws etc, and well lit and comfortable antistatic workspace.
